Job description
The primary objective is for the Energy Data Expert to support the improvement of the

data collection processes, and develop regular statistics, guidance, and insights for the management of ECREEE. Additionally, the expert will provide ad hoc technical support to the data collection of the Global Network of Regional Sustainable Energy Centers (GNSEC), which is coordinated by UNIDO.


The Expert will specifically: a. Support the implementation of the ECREEE Strategic Plan 2023-2027; b. Support the improvement of the data collection strategy; c. Support the collection and validation of data from the ECOWAS Member States; d. Update data points and country energy statistics on the ECOWREX platform; e. Support the preparation of the annual Regional Progress Report on the implementation of the ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Policies; f. Deploy data mining techniques to extract timely data from government and non-government sources such as reports, studies, articles, publications, etc. for the continuous update of the ECOWREX Interactive Data Portal (country profile section) to close data gaps; g. Support the revamping of the ECOWREX platform, including the review of RE/EE indicators to provide the relevant information for the ECOWREX target groups; h. Organize and coordinate capacity-building activities such as webinars and training workshops to assist the Member States in improving data collection and management; i. Support the preparation of press releases, concept notes, policy briefs, and any other documents related to ECOWREX; j. Support advocacy efforts by promoting the use of ECOWREX; k. Support fund mobilization for ECOWREX; l. Lead the design and implementation of the upcoming Observatory of Professions and Jobs in the RE and EE sectors; m. Provide ad hoc technical assistance to the GN-SEC data collection work; n. Support with technical insights for the establishment of a knowledge management system of the Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency for Central Africa (CEREEAC); o. Ensure the visibility of the UNIDO logo, alongside the other ECREEE strategic partners and donors on the ECOWREX website. p. Carry out any other relevant tasks assigned by the Director of Operations and the Executive Director of ECREEE.


Qualifications and experience a. A Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, energy, economics, sustainable development, or any other related field. b. A minimum of 5 years of experience in data collection, analysis, visualization, and usage. c. At least 3 years of working experience in the energy sector, including familiarity with renewable energy and energy efficiency indicators, identifying energy data needs,,and developing management solutions. d. Experience using data analysis tools such as Excel, Tableau, Power BI, Python, STATA, etc. e. Experience in presenting data to various categories of users/audiences. f. Fluency in English or French, with working knowledge of the other. Knowledge of Portuguese is an advantage.

g. Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems is a distinct advantage.
