Job description
REN21 is looking for Authors to support the REN21 Secretariat in the production of Renewables 2023

Global Status Report. The contractor(s) will work in close consultation with the REN21Research Direction Team. The assignment is expected to be close to a full-time commitment between April 2023 and June 2023. The contractor will be expected to work between 12-14 days over that period.

The contractor will support the REN21 Secretariat in providing authorship, research and project management support for the 2023 edition of the Renewables Global Status Report. Specifically, the the contractor is expected to fulfill the following tasks:

• Authorship of GSR 2023 Global Overview Module: o Undertake qualitative and quantitative analysis of main energy trends of 2022-2023 that captures the main messages of all GSR modules (demand, supply, systems and value creation). o Conduct desk research and follow up with contributors to close data gaps, where necessary. o Author the Overview and Market Development Sections of the Global Overview Module. o Ensure that references/citations are provided for all statistics and other information/data and noted in full as endnotes.

• Project management support: work collaboratively in the project and research coordination team to support the production of REN21’s GSR 2023 Global Overview Module o Support the production of REN21 knowledge products, including coordination with designers and editors to ensure the timely production of text, figures, tables, and other report content, etc. o Support the day-to-day management of REN21’s knowledge products production process, including monitoring milestones and timelines.

• Support REN21 in reaching out and mobilizing contributors to participate in the data collection process, i.e. provide data. • Outreach and mobilization events: support the preparation of REN21 events.

Qualification requirements of the contractor • Proven track record of knowledge about the renewable energy sector. • Capacity to conduct high-quality research and ability to write coherently following the REN21 style. • Related work experience. • Proficiency in English.

• Openness to the collaborative nature of the project.
