We are happy to share the July edition of the Mozambique Off-grid Knowledge Hub News!

The Mozambique Off-grid Knowledge Hub offers a wealth of information on the energy situation, RE potential, policy and regulatory framework as well as on actors involved in the Mozambican energy sector.

You can also browse through sub-hubs on solar energy, cooking energy and productive use of energy (focused on solar powered irrigation systems) to understand the market landscape and the opportunities/challenges for private sector engagement in each technology markets. A sub-hub on nano and mini-grids will be available soon.

What's new on the Mozambique Off-grid Knowledge Hub

Award Ceremony for the Writing Contest Winners Announced!

Energypedia and AMER are happy to announce the winners of the writing contest titled, ''Energy Minds: Writing Content in Renewable Energy”. After careful consideration and evaluation, the jury selected three winners who will be announced during an in-person event on August 11, 2022 at 11:00 am at the UP- Maputo Pedagogical University and also live on facebook through the link here!

Grant Extension

We are very happy and grateful to announce that we got a grant extension from GIZ / Green People’s Energy Mozambique to develop the Mozambique Off-grid Knowledge Hub further! In the upcoming months, the hub will include new information about renewable energy regulations and mini/nano grids in Mozambique.

Updated Content

During the last couple of weeks, we have updated the improved cooking energy hub and the solar hub with new information and data, for example energy access has increased from 38% in 2020 to 44% in 2022.

New Case Study on Improved Cooking Energy

We are happy to share a new and very interesting case study on improved cookstoves and cooking energy in Mozambique! A huge thank you to Sogepal for giving insights into their products, approaches, impacts, challenges, and for sharing their recommendations. You can read theis case study as well as the ones from Mozambique Carbon Initiatives, Kulima, Pamoja, and Carbonsink in either English or Portuguese on the Clean Cooking Hub. We are sure, these case studies will be of help for other cookstove companies and projects and enhance the knowledge of the sector!
